Hi all, thought I’ll contribute a lil’ post on this coming week’s programme and a little insight on what happened at YF last week.

The programme planned last Saturday (14 Mar 09) was a Workshop on Love, nope, not BGR but still in line with our theme this month about love for our brethren. Asat and Merrill were the facilitators and last Sunday we spent some time in the afternoon (1.5hr discussion and 1.5hr playing BANG! lol) after Choir planning for the Workshop. We wanted the Workshop to impact yfers life and not just something that goes through one ear and out the next.

Last Saturday, there were sadly, only 9 persons in our midst and we made a joint decision to postpone this Workshop to the coming week (21 Mar 09) so that it can benefit more yfers. However, we spent a really good time sharing and praying. We talked about church issues, we asked yfers on their views about yf, there were sharings from the Bible from a few of us. Very open and straightforward, I must say we enjoyed the fellowship. During corporate prayer, we prayed for our church leaders, yfers who haven’t been in our midst/ haven’t been coming for some time and for ourselves (spiritual life, our service etc).

As we were discussing, some of us said in jest if we should consider having yf on a fornightly or even monthly basis. When I heard it I felt sad, even though I agree to a certain extent if numbers are low each week. The committee often crack their brains to plan appropriate activities that is first and foremost, from the Bible or with biblical objectives as well as something interesting and engaging for the youths of today. The committee also competes with all the schools, machiam like tug of war, as both are also vying for the yfers’ time. Sooo many activities in school nowdays! Scary as compared to my era.

That being said, what is YOUR priority? In case you are thinking I’m asking you to skip school and CCAs, nope, I’m not asking you to do that. What is first place in your heart? Going to quote a verse that everyone is familiar with, Matt 6:33 says seek Ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added onto you. These things = God’s blessings, peace from God, guidance and things you ask for (that God will grant you in His time).

One day, all our world possessions will past. Things materials will pass, achievements, accolades. Everything! Quoting 1 John 2: 15-17,

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

This Saturday, we are going to have a very interesting programme, hoping that all of you can make time to come for fellowship, get your church buddies/friends along, the more the merrier. See you this Sat, 3pm @ Chapel 2.

in Christ’s love, joyce.
